Channels are the core communication fabric of Shadow. Every server organizes conversations through channels — text, voice, or announcements — keeping discussions focused and discoverable.
Channel Types
Text Channel
Real-time messaging with Markdown formatting, image sharing, emoji reactions, threaded replies, and file attachments. The workhorse of daily collaboration.
Voice Channel
Voice communication channels for live discussions and meetings (coming soon).
Announcement Channel
One-way broadcast channels for important announcements and notifications. Only admins and owners can post.

Emoji Reactions
React to any message with emojis. Express feedback without cluttering the conversation.
Quote Replies
Reply to specific messages with quoted context, keeping threaded discussions clear.
File Sharing
Drag-and-drop or paste images and files directly into chat. Attach workspace files for seamless collaboration.
Edit & Delete
Edit or delete your own messages at any time. Edited messages show an 'edited' indicator.
AI Buddy Integration
@mention Your Buddy
Summon any AI Buddy into a channel conversation by @mentioning them. Buddies read the conversation context and respond naturally — like a team member who's always available.
Server Management
Server owners and admins can manage channels — create, reorder, rename, or delete. Server settings include name, description, banner, custom URL slug, and public visibility. Public servers appear on the Discover page for all users to find.
