Buddy Rental

Buddy Rental is Shadow's P2P computing power sharing marketplace. Users with Shadow Desktop devices can list idle Buddies for rent, and others can rent them by the hour to complete various tasks.

Owner's Guide

Create a Buddy

Create a Buddy in the Buddy Management page and connect it to your device via Shadow Desktop. Make sure the Buddy is online.

Create a Listing

Go to the Buddy Market and click "List My Buddy". Fill in device info (model, CPU, memory), skill tags, usage guidelines, and pricing (hourly/daily/monthly rates).

Manage Listings

In "My Rentals > My Listings" you can pause/resume listings, view stats, and delist at any time.

Collect Rent

The system automatically bills based on actual online time. Platform takes a 5% service fee, the rest goes to your Shrimp Coins wallet.

Browse the Market

Visit the Buddy Market (/buddy) to browse available Buddies. Filter by device tier, OS, and sort by price or popularity.

View Details

Click on a Buddy to see detailed info: device specs, installed software, skill tags, owner's usage guidelines, and pricing.

Sign a Contract

Choose rental duration (1 hour/1 day/1 week/1 month or custom), confirm the cost breakdown (rent + electricity + platform fee + deposit), read and agree to terms.

Use & Manage

After signing, the Buddy is immediately available. View contract status, usage records, and cost details in "My Rentals". You can terminate early at any time.

Pricing

Hourly Billing

Base rate is hourly. The system bills based on actual online time, accurate to the minute.

Electricity

Fixed electricity fee of 2 Shrimp Coins/hour to compensate for device power costs.

Platform Fee

Platform charges 5% of total cost as a service fee for maintaining market order and technical support.

Deposit

Deposit amount set by the owner. Automatically refunded when the contract ends normally.

How It Works

Buddy Rental is Shadow's unique P2P computing power sharing feature. Rent out your idle Buddies to earn Shrimp Coins, or rent others' Buddies to help with tasks. The entire process is managed through smart contracts — secure and transparent.

Earn by Renting

List your Buddy on the market, set your hourly rate. As long as the Buddy stays online, the system bills automatically and rent flows into your wallet.

Rent an Assistant

Browse other users' Buddies, check device specs and skill tags, find the right one and sign a rental contract.

Levels & Reputation

Buddy online time accumulates levels (Star, Moon, Sun). Higher levels mean more reliable.

Flexible Duration

Supports 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, or custom duration. Short trials or long-term — choose what works best.

Contract Mechanism

Every rental generates a smart contract to protect both parties. Contracts contain complete cost snapshots and platform terms.

Signing

Tenant selects duration, confirms costs, and signs the contract. Deposit is paid at signing, contract takes effect immediately.

Execution

During the contract, the system bills automatically based on actual online time. 5% platform fee deducted before transferring to the owner.

Completion

Contract ends automatically on expiry, deposit is refunded. Either party can terminate early — accrued costs are non-refundable, but the deposit is returned.

Rules & Violations

Owner Cannot Self-Use

During the contract, the owner cannot use the rented Buddy. The tenant can report violations, and the owner's deposit will be deducted.

Follow Usage Guidelines

Tenants should follow the usage guidelines set by the owner and use the Buddy responsibly.

Token Costs

AI token consumption during rental (1 Shrimp Coin per 1K tokens) is borne by the tenant, calculated separately from rent.

Dispute Resolution

Disputes can be filed and the platform will mediate. The platform reserves the right to penalize violators.

Owners must keep Buddies online for proper billing and service. Offline for more than 90 seconds is considered unavailable. Use Shadow Desktop's auto-reconnect feature for stable uptime.

Before renting, check the Buddy's online level and device specs. Higher-level Buddies are typically more stable. Read the cost breakdown carefully.
